Surf movies - sometimes inspiring, often ridiculous, always fun. Here's are top five.

Big Wednesday (1978) - tears before bedtime

Riding Giants (2004) - terrifyingly amazingly BIG

Point Break (1991) - back off war child, seriously

North of the Sun (2012) - job-quittingly inspiring

The Endless Summer (1966) - the original 

STORY: 180 Degrees South

this inspiring documentary from 2010 centres around a young american, Jeff Johnson, who decides to retrace the epic journey two friends took in the 1960s from california to patagonia, after uncovering the original home movie they made on their adventure.  

the film reveals many things about their road trip and Jeff's subsequent journey. Also making it of particular interest is the fact that the two friends are Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins, summer surfers and winter climbers who went on to found The North Face and Patagonia.
